Castle release new lyric video; announce Japan Tour

US/Canadian heavy doom trio Castle have released a lyric video for “Burn the Messenger”, the closing track from the upcoming album “Carrie Chains” – scheduled for release Sept 4th on Hammerheart Records. “Burn the Messenger” is now the third single from the record and follows the quasi-title track “Carry Chains” and the more recent “Truckgrinder”.

Using stills and video from the album recording session at RainCity Recorders in Vancouver earlier this year, Castle flexes their might on another riff driven anthem of doom. Lyrically centered on protagonist Joan Of Arc and tied to the modern day with the current war on art/artists/seers – will the circle close in on the heroes of the night?

Before – the dawn, they’re going to burn you alive…

Singer and bassist Liz Blackwell states;
“”Burn the Messenger” was the last song to be written for the record and also the last track on the album. After spending months writing and crafting the songs this came as a sudden inspiration to summarize the need to continue sharing music, to be a voice when others have none, to use music as a vessel to commune with the unknown greater power. It also is a warning that to speak truths and pursue a life outside the norm has consequences. The messenger is about visionaries viewed as heretics and the journey to truth and the beyond”.

Preorders are available for limited edition and band exclusive vinyl, plus a special two-cd longbox edition that includes Castle’s all-covers album Double Vision – released last year as a vinyl only on the band’s own Black Wren Records imprint – in addition to regular digipack and digital versions.

Carrie Chains shows Castle at new heights of constructing their trademark serpentine riffs into powerful anthemic hooks while the whiskey throated vocals of powerhouse singer Liz Blackwell fill every spooky nook and cranny to intoxicating effect. Taking influence from the 70s/80s riff-heavy maestros like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Mercyful Fate and keeping a stripped down attack sound, Castle channel that classic heavy-metal DNA into something leaner, meaner, and unmistakably their own.

Castle have also announced a new Japan tour, their first since 2016 and includes a 2 night headline stint at the Tokyo Doom Fest that will feature 2 unique sets. In addition the band have previously announced a US run, scheduled for September and October, 2026. A full list of confirmed dates can be found below.
