Opening with a sample from John Carpenter’s “The Thing”, this is old school brutal Death Metal to the bone. “Human Abattoir” crashes in with a heavy, down-tuned sound, guitars split left and right, one sharp, one thick, locking into a dense, grinding tone.
The riffs come in waves, full of palm-muted chug before breaking into faster, chaotic sections, with drums that feel pushed to the edge. Vocals stay low and hard to pin down, adding to the dark, oppressive feel that runs through the whole record. There’s just enough lead work to cut through, especially in “Dearly Beloved,” where things shift into a more eerie, atmospheric passage before dropping back into the weight.
If you’re after something raw, dark and unapologetically heavy, Abramelin delivers, as always!
