Biography
Otyg is a Swedish Folk Metal band founded by Andreas Hedlund (Vintersorg). Emerging in the late ’90s, the band stood apart from the scene by blending Heavy Metal with authentic Scandinavian folk music, drawing directly from traditional melodies rather than modern folk influences.
Across two albums, Otyg used instruments such as keyed fiddle and willow flute and kept all lyrics in Swedish, firmly rooted in Nordic folklore, nature and rural tradition. Their sound is raw, earthy and unmistakably northern.
